Professional Classes for The Working Artist

What People Are Saying

" Hey Katie! I just wanted to thank you again for your amazing class. When I signed up for your course, I didn't know what to expect. I was hoping for something useful and fun to get me out of the house, away from "Mom" duties, and I hoped to learn a little bit more about the structure of stand-up comedy.

Your course exceeded my expectations and absolutely delivered on the structure lesson. You provided a very clear and thorough breakdown of the premise/because/punchline structure and provided especially honest, helpful feedback. And I really appreciated your ability to wrangle a classroom full of people who love to talk about themselves (myself included) and you kept the course on track. While you were honest and direct, you also provided really compassionate and encouraging guidance. I always felt like you wanted us to really be successful in your course. I knew I wanted the comedy lesson, but I had no idea that I was also going to experience an almost therapeutic lesson in just being present and comfortable in my own skin.

Your course was exactly what I needed at this point in my life. It's helped me work through a lot of feelings in a really fun and productive way. Thank you again, and I can't wait for part two! "

-All the best,

Nicole

ACTING CLASS

for working actors

In this 6 week workshop, we will use the tools of Stanislavsky, Meisner, and Seth Barish to simplify and deepen both your creative process and your relationship with your Self. Our acting develops as we develop. We will see our work in class as an aspect of our growth as individuals and our personal growth as that which contributes most deeply to our work as artists.

STAND UP COMEDY CLASS

Level 1, Writing

In this introductory course, students will learn the scientific structure of joke writing, practice it repeatedly on their feet, and leave with a "tight five" minutes of material completed and ready to perform. Students will learn how jokes are structured and how to "punch up" their jokes in order to support their already developed, intuitive sense of what is funny.
